Let's learn about water-based ink knowledge together.
Water-based polymer emulsions are synthesized from acrylic and ethylene-styrene copolymers. Their function is to serve as a carrier for pigments, providing gloss, drying speed, adhesion, hardness, abrasion resistance, and water resistance. Film-forming emulsions are used for printing on non-absorbent substrates, while non-film-forming emulsions are used for printing on absorbent materials such as paper and cardboard.
In the eyes of the public, water-based ink is considered environmentally friendly ink. But where is the environmental benefit? Let's popularize some knowledge about water-based ink.

Water-based ink: Water-based ink is composed of water-based polymer emulsion, surfactants, pigments, water, and other additives.
1. The water-based polymer emulsion is made from acrylic and styrene copolymers. Its function is to serve as a carrier for the pigments, providing brightness, drying speed, adhesion, hardness, wear resistance, and water resistance. Film-forming emulsions are used for printing on non-absorbent substrates, while non-film-forming emulsions are used for printing on absorbent materials like paper and cardboard.
2. Surfactants reduce surface tension, allowing the ink to spread on the substrate and improving the stability of the water-based ink.
3. Pigments: Organic phthalocyanine blue, Lithol red; inorganic carbon black, titanium dioxide.
4. Water solvents can change the viscosity of the water-based ink, thus affecting the thickness of the ink layer and drying speed. Water-based ink differs from solvent-based ink, where the solvent carrier is organic solvents like toluene, ethyl acetate, and ethanol, while the solvent carrier for water-based ink is water and a small amount of alcohol (about 3% to 5%). Due to the use of water as the solvent carrier, pigments.
Water-based ink is typically used on perforated and non-coated substrates, such as paper and cardboard, and is also commonly used for direct mail product printing. It can be divided into pigment-based and dye-based. Pigments, which cannot dissolve in water, will precipitate. Therefore, pigments need to be ground very finely to achieve better printing results.
Pigments themselves have good weather resistance, water resistance, lightfastness, and abrasion resistance; dyes have better solubility, a wider variety of colors, and good brightness.
Advantages: Harmless, .., close to no volatile organic gas emissions. Mainly reflected in the following four aspects:
1. Water-based ink is beneficial to the atmosphere.....;
2. Improves the safety of the working environment, ensuring the health of operators;
3. Can reduce residual substances on the printed surface.
