Product Description

WPU510 ink and plastic water-based ink is a new environmentally friendly product launched by our company. During the production process, pure water is used as a solvent, which is non-flammable, non-explosive, and non-toxic. It does not cause any pollution or harm to the environment and operators during the printing process. It can be printed at speeds of 40 to 160 meters per minute, depending on the drying equipment conditions of the printing machine. The total solvent residue of the printed product meets national requirements for food packaging, making it an ideal product for VOC emission control in printing.

Printing Conditions

• If the existing solvent ink printing equipment remains unchanged, the printing solvent ink plate can directly print water-based ink. The drying speed can be adjusted by mixing ethanol and water in proportion. If the drying system and airflow are sufficient, less ethanol and more water can be added for printing; if the drying equipment is poor, 100% ethanol or a mixture of ethanol and water can be used for printing, and the ratio of ethanol to water can be adjusted according to the printing speed.

Applicable Substrates

• Polypropylene film treatment degree ≥ 38 dyne

• Polyester film treatment degree ≥ 50 dyne

Printing Process

First, clean the printing machine thoroughly to ensure that there is no solvent residue on the ink roller, pressure roller, printing plate, scraper, and ink tank. Check the direction of the drying oven to avoid wind blowing towards the printing plate and ink tank. Adjust the oven temperature as required, generally set between 60-80℃, with an air intake of 4500-5000m³/h and wind speed of 15-20m/s. The length of the drying oven should be 1.6-1.8m, and the printing speed can reach 100-160m/min. The intake, exhaust, and circulation airflow of the drying oven should be reasonably adjusted according to the on-site conditions to maintain a slight negative pressure in the oven, allowing the water-based ink to dry quickly on the printing substrate. Open the water-based ink barrel, stir the ink evenly, check the viscosity, and it is recommended to control the printing viscosity at 14-18s/3 cup. Add the mixed solution of ethanol and water according to the printing speed and drying conditions.

Start the machine and rotate the printing plate, add water-based ink to the ink tank, and do not press the scraper, allowing the printing plate to rotate in the water-based ink for 3-5 minutes for pre-wetting. Open the drying oven for preheating, align the scraper with the plate roller, and lower the rubber roller. Since the ink does not re-dissolve after printing, pay special attention to the blocking phenomenon before, during, and after printing. When there is a break in printing, the scraper should be moved away to allow the plate roller to keep rotating in the water-based ink.

After printing is completed and the machine is stopped, first lower the ink tank, use the prepared diluent to wash the plate roller, and after cleaning, loosen the scraper. Pour the water-based ink into the barrel and cover it, then add clean water to the ink tank, rotate the printing plate for cleaning, and use a 3% laundry powder water solution for cleaning.

Precautions

Keep the cooling water of the cooling roller at around 18℃ to prevent excessive drying temperature from causing stretching of the printed film.

When applying a full coating of white ink, arrange the white ink in a printing unit equipped with an extended drying oven, which is beneficial for thoroughly drying the water-based ink and increasing printing speed.

When the amount of water added is large, it can cause significant damage to the printing plate and scraper. It is recommended that the amount of diluent ethanol be no less than 10%.

Solvent-based inks or different systems of water-based inks should not be mixed together for use, but they can be used for overprinting.

The best results for composite printing are achieved with solvent-free composites and polyurethane water-based adhesive composites.
